NY: CPS cases rise with return to school (May require registration)
Daily News – October 07, 2021
Genesee County Department of Social Services saw an increase of 32 Child Protective Services cases this September compared to a year ago, DSS Commissioner David Rumsey said this week. “That’s directly related to the fact that the youth are back in the public eye in school,” he told the county Human Services Committee Monday. Through August, there were 646 cases of suspected child abuse and maltreatment, Rumsey said. He told county leaders they could add 95 cases to that, for a total of 741. The total is about the same as last year’s total at this time, he said.
