This workbook is for parents about to adopt an international child with life-experiences, the words we use to describe a child 12 months old or older who is already searching or attempting to attach to a parent figure who can meet her/his needs, who has already experienced pain and hopefully its relief, who recognizes a repeated pattern of distinct sounds (voices, words, verbal, and non verbal communications from a caregiver), who is learning his/her own body and what it can or cannot do or achieve, and who recognizes friend or foe.
