This book represents a distillation of research and clinical work with adolescents and children’s therapy groups which spans more than 30 years.  The work has been conducted in state mental hospitals, juvenile court settings, mental health centers, group homes, outpatient clinics, county social services stings, outpatient clinics, and private practice.  The techniques for structuring psychotherapy groups with sexually abused children and adolescents were developed in response to needs for effective, time-limited therapeutic interventions for this victimized population, and are based on my work with colleagues on trauma, sexual abuse, and the process of mastery by which children handle trauma.
