Neuropsychiatric Assessment

  • Yudofsky, Stuart C., M.D.
  • Kim, Florence H., M.D.

What is neuropsychiatry?  Neuropsychiatry is an integrative and collaborative field that brings together the brain and behavior.  Yudofsky and Hales (1989) described the underlying tenets of the discipline to be the “inseparability of brain and thought, of mind, and body, and of mental and physical” (p.1).  Neuropsychiatry attempts to bridge the artificial boundaries between neurology and psychiatry in order to treat the multitude of clinical manifestations of the singular brain.
