The major change that surfaced between printings is the swing in popular attitudes from secrecy and taboos surrounding adoption to the present open acceptance of reunions and the establishing of relationships between adoptees and their birth parents.

Media interest now promotes reunion programs and aims at helping dispel the stigma surrounding adoption.  The modern trend is one of compassion and understanding for all the parties involved so that they may be reunited and healed through their reunion.  Although not everyone is willing to change their thinking on the matter, many are willing to try.
