Adoption now touches the lives of more Americans than ever before.  With 1.6 million adopted children growing up in the United States today, fully sixty percent of Americans report a personal connection to such families.  The surge has prompted an increased acceptance of adoption – and a growing interest in its related challenges and joys.  Yet while many books detail the adoption process, little has been written that explores the complexities -as well as the pleasures – specific to adoptive family life.
